The flatting theory of the SN series
 Since the silica contains the small particles (commonly under the 5μm) and is the porous substance, it sinks down slowly in the paints so that could exist on the surface forming some tiny knots when surface drying. So the incident light becomes the diffused reflection light resulting in the glossiness fall down, but it does not effect the smoothness and touchable of the film appearance. If the organic flatting agent is added, the film will achieve better performance on buildiness, abrasion resistant, anti-scratch and anti-sedimentation.

Note:
SN7101 is intended for paper and paint; SN7502 is intended for sealant and plastics; SN7602 is intended for furniture lacquer, waterborne wood paint, acrylic resin, latex and coil coating.

2.Features:
(1)High matting efficiency:
Various types of matting powder are available to meet the needs of coating formulation. Large particle size means high matting efficiency, narrow distribution of particle size and high symmetrical matting effect.
(2)Good transparency:
The refracting index of our matting powder is similar to that of coating resin, so the common fogging phenomena in transparent matting semi-gloss coating is avoided.
(3)Easy to be dispersed:
Accurate control on the particle size distribution ensures the good dispersion in coating. For standard solvent, stirring at 1200r/min for 10-15 minutes will achieve fully dispersing.
(4)No adverse effect on coating film:
The purity, integrity of particle and grinding endurance of matting powder, together with wise choosing of right type, which can ensure no adverse effect on the recoating adherence of coating film, furthermore it can grant coating film with such properties like anti-scratch, smoothness, good hand feel, homogeneity of gloss and etc.

3.Application advice on SN series matting powder
(1)Solvent type coating
Color coating system – In color coating, the dosage of pigments and fillers is much more than that of matting powder, so the sediment of matting powder can be neglected. In consideration of costs, SN-7101 is recommended.
Transparent varnish: To ensure the transparency, smoothness and good hand feel of coating film, the following matting powder are recommended for wood coating: SN-7101, SN-7302 and SN-7602.
(2) Waterborne coating
Non-treated matting powder is recommended for waterborne coating, such as SN-7101. If it's apt to sediment, proper amount of wax powder should be added to avoid harden.
(3)Leather coating
For leather coating, the following matting powder are recommended:
SN-7302, SN-7111 and SN-7602.

4.Dosage of matting powder
The dosage of matting powder should be determined by trial experiments in regarding to the properties of resin, solid content, thickness of coating film, type of matting powder, preferred gloss and formulation requirements. In accordance to the feedback from many of our customers in recent years, the dosage for PU coating should be 5-8%, 1-4% for NC coating, about 7% for powder coating, and 4-10% for leather.

5.SN7602
Surface treatment by wax; easy to be dispersed; can grant coating film with good transparency, smoothness and good hand feel; recommended for top quality coatings, certain wood coating.

6.Packing and Storage
Packing: 5kg PP composite bag with polyethylene film lining
Storage: store in a dry warehouse, packing for no more than 10 layers. This product is apt to absorb moisture, so tie the bag tightly after using.
